Spots – The Wi-Fi Hotspot Directory

Spots helps you locate hotspots around you or anywhere in the world. No internet connection needed, no waiting while your iPhone connects to a website. Using its internal database of 600,000+ locations, Spots offers the results you are looking for immediately. The offline feature makes Spots work perfectly on the iPod Touch.

The database is updated regularly. It contains hotspot locations from multiple providers and a lot of independent access points.

Map

Navigate the map freely and see where the next hotspots are.

Locate

Using the iPhones built in GPS, the map shows your current position and the closest hotspots.

Search

The search function lets you find hotspots by name, street, city etc. After locating a hotspot you can center the map around it to see its vicinity.

Filter

Using the filter settings, you can limit the results to specific providers.

FAQ

Where can I find the settings of Spots?

You can find the settings of Spots in the “Settings” app of your iPhone or iPod Touch. It’s the one with the metallic gears. When you scroll down, you’ll see the Spots icon among the third-party applications.

How do I know which hotspots are free and which are paid?

Free hotspots have a star symbol. There are also ad supported commercial hotspots which are free of charge. If you are only interested in free hotspots you can hide the paid ones in the settings.

I found a hotspot which is not in the database. How can I add it to Spots?

You can submit a hotspot using our web form. Your additions will be available with the next Spots update in the App Store. Spots updates are always free!

How (often) do you update the hotspot database?

The hotspot database in Spots is updated through App Store updates. The interval for updates is approximately four weeks. You will be notified by the App Store application of your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Why is my Wi-Fi provider not in the database?

We are working together with selected providers who license their hotspot data to us. Some providers do not disclose their databases. If you have suggestions for new providers please let us know.

My device has no GPS—how can I determine my position?

Spots has a text search function which you can use to search for a city or address. You can also use the built-in map to navigate to your desired position. Use the “Go Here” button in the details of a local hotspot to center at that position.

Why does Spots not detect open Wi-Fi networks in my area?

Spots is not a Wi-Fi scanner that uses the devices antenna to find open networks. Wi-Fi scanner apps can only find networks in range of your device. Spots includes a massive hotspot directory and shows access points regardless of their distance.
